Youth:
Individual Age Groups
Youth 13:
aged 13 and under on 31st December
Youth 14/15: aged 15 and under on 31st December
Youth 16/17: aged 17 and under on 31st December
Youth 18/19: aged 19 and under on 31st December
Team Age Groups
Youth 15: all members of the relay team must be aged 15 under on 31st December
Youth 17: all members of the relay team must be aged 17 under on 31st December
Youth 19:
all members of the relay team must be aged 19 under on 31st December
TEAM EVENTS *Swimmers 13, 14, 15yrs can swim up into the 16/17yrs relay, swimmers 16,17yrs can
swim up into the 18/19yrs relay. Swimmers can only swim in one relay per event.
Senior and Masters
Individual Age Groups
Senior Open: will reach the age of 16 and over during this year
Masters 30-34: must be aged between 30 – 34 in the year of competition
Masters 35-39: must be aged between 35 – 39 in the year of competition
Masters 40-44: must be aged between 40 – 44 in the year of competition
Masters 45-49: must be aged between 45 - 49 in the year of competition
Masters 50-54: must be aged between 50 - 54 in the year of competition
Masters 55-59: must be aged between 55 - 59 in the year of competition
Masters 60-64: must be aged between 60 - 64 in the year of competition
Master 65+
reach the age of 65 or above during this year
Team Age Groups
Senior: open to age 16 above.
Open Teams – can be made up from Male and Female competitors.
Female Teams – Female only
Masters:
Pairs: as per individual age groups.

Total-Age 4-personTeam Events

200+
4-person team events are conducted as total-age events with competitors whose ages total 120-139
years, 140-169 years, 170-199 years, and 200 years or more.
The total of the four competitors’ ages determines the team’s age group.
For example, a team comprised of a 30-year-old, a 40-year-old, a 50-year-old, and a 60-year-old (=
180 years) would compete in the 170+ age group. but a team composed of a 30-year-old, a 30-year
old, a 49-year-old, and a 60-year-old (= 169 years) would compete in the 140+ age group.
For ILS and ILSE records the Open team can only be made up for the same sex so the Open must be
all Male. Any team entering for the International Record must let the organiser know so the name of
each athlete can be recorded on the Event Programme.

Entries Open for the SLSGB 2025 National Pool Championships and GBR Team Selection Event
Surf Life Saving Great Britain (SLSGB) is excited to announce that entries are now open for the 2025 National Pool Championships, taking place on 26th and 27th April 2025 at Cardiff International Pool.
This year’s championships will feature an exciting new format, combining Youth, Seniors, and Masters categories over the weekend, offering competitors more opportunities to race and showcase their lifesaving skills.
A Key Selection Event for the GBR Team
The SLSGB National Pool Championships is not just a premier lifesaving competition, it is also one of the official GBR Team selection events. Top-performing athletes will have the chance to be considered for selection, making this a critical competition for anyone aspiring to represent Great Britain on the international stage.
What’s New in 2025?
A Fresh Format: This year’s event will run as three separate competitions, allowing competitors to enter both Youth and Seniors or Seniors and Masters, providing additional racing opportunities.
First-Ever Youth Line Throw Event: For the first time, the championships will feature a Youth Line Throw event, adding a new test of precision, skill, and teamwork to the competition schedule.
Entry Requirements
To enter, competitors must be current members of either Surf Life Saving Great Britain (SLSGB) or Surf Life Saving Association of Wales (SLSA Wales).
